About Bills Must Be Paid

There's No Easy Way to Pay the Rent

Bills Must Be Paid takes a familiar problem and gives it a very strange solution. You're short on cash, the bills keep coming, and there's a desk full of piggy banks waiting to be smashed. Grab your hammer and start swinging. Every broken piggy spills coins that you can collect and put toward the next payment. The catch? Each bill has a deadline, and the amount you need to earn gets bigger as you go.

Some Pigs Are Harder to Crack

The pink piggy banks are easy enough to deal with, but don't expect every target to sit still. Small piglets dart away, armored vault pigs can take a beating, and rare varieties offer much better rewards. Tourist piggies are particularly useful when your stamina is running low, while golden pigs and piñatas can bring in a nice pile of cash.

Your hammer swings use stamina, so mindless smashing won't get you very far. You can improve grip strength, wrist power, and caffeine intake to keep going longer. There's also a skill tree for damage, attack speed, critical hits, luck, and special attacks such as rock rain or an electrified hammer. Some hammers cover a wide area, while others are better suited to cracking one stubborn target.

Going Broke Isn't the End

Fail to pay a bill on time, and a debt collector starts taking a hefty share of your earnings, ranging from 20% to 50%. Eventually, bankruptcy may catch up with you. Surprisingly, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Every $50 used to pay bills earns one Legacy Point, which can be spent on permanent upgrades like rings and bracelets for your next attempt.

Pay Up or Take a Gamble

Once a bill is cleared, you'll get choices that can change your next run. You might pick a money multiplier or try a double-or-nothing coin flip for a bigger reward. There's always a temptation to take a risk, but the next deadline won't wait for you to recover your losses.
