A Potato With a Lot to Prove
Shell Survivor puts you in the shoes of a little armed potato stuck on an alien planet. There’s no time to look for a way home. Strange creatures keep rushing into the arena, and you need to make it through 20 waves before facing the boss. Some rounds are over in 20 seconds, while others drag on for 90, leaving you scrambling to avoid getting surrounded.
Six Slots, Plenty of Trouble
Your character can carry six weapons, so you don't have to rely on a single gun. Mix firearms with rockets or melee weapons and see what works when enemies get close. Green materials dropped by aliens are useful for two things: filling your XP bar and buying gear from the shop between rounds.
The shop is where duplicate weapons can pay off. Buy another copy of the same weapon at the same tier, merge them, and get a stronger version. There are four tiers, ending with Legendary. Sometimes upgrading what you already have makes more sense than trying something new.
Pick a Character, Then Stick to a Plan
Shell Survivor has 17 characters, and they don't all play alike. Some come with handy stat boosts or a weapon ready to go. Others have drawbacks that make certain choices less useful. When you level up, you get four random upgrades to choose from, so you may need to adjust your build as the run develops.
If your character is good at melee, putting points into ranged damage may not help much. Build around what the character does well instead of spreading upgrades everywhere.
Little Things That Keep You Alive
Turrets, landmines, and fruit gardens are available in the shop alongside weapons. A turret can help with a busy corner, while a fruit garden grows health pickups you might need later.
Clear Wave 20 and beat the boss to finish the run. Then you can move up through seven difficulty levels, from Danger 0 to Nightmare, or try Endless Mode and see how long your setup holds together.
