About Slither IO

A Little Worm in a Crowded World

Your snake starts out tiny, with plenty of room to wander and glowing dots scattered across the screen. A few minutes later, the arena might look completely different. Long, colorful snakes are weaving around each other, someone is chasing a pile of glowing orbs, and one bad turn can bring an entire run to an abrupt end. That's the sort of chaos waiting in Slither IO.

The game takes the old Snake idea and throws dozens of players into the same open arena. Collecting pellets makes your snake longer, but growing isn't quite as easy as it sounds. The more space your body takes up, the more carefully you need to think about where you're heading next.

That Pile of Orbs Looks Awfully Tempting

One of the most exciting moments comes when a large snake crashes into another player's body and disappears. Its remains turn into a trail of bright orbs, suddenly giving nearby players a chance to grow much faster than usual.

Of course, you're rarely the only one who notices. Several snakes may rush toward the same pile, turning an easy meal into a dangerous scramble. Getting there first feels great, but trying to swallow every last orb can leave you boxed in by rivals. Sometimes it's better to collect what you can and get out before the crowd closes around you.

Bigger Snakes Have Their Own Tricks

Being long enough to surround another player opens up a different side of Slither IO. Rather than chasing someone around the map, you can slowly circle them and cut off their escape routes. The trapped snake has to make a move eventually, and that's when a small mistake can work in your favor.

Still, a big snake isn't untouchable. One collision with another snake's body means starting over, regardless of how well you've been doing.

There Is Always Another Run

Slither IO has no final stage to complete. The leaderboard changes as players rise and fall, and even the biggest snake can lose everything in seconds. You can also pick a colorful skin before entering the arena, giving your snake its own look.

Sometimes you'll spend ages building a respectable length, only to lose it in a crowded corner. Other times, you'll spot a lucky trail of orbs and suddenly find yourself much higher on the leaderboard. That unpredictability is what makes another round so tempting.
